Bahrain attends 27th Meeting of the Parties to the Montreal Protocol

Manama, Nov.7 (BNA): Bahrain attended the 27th Meeting of the Parties to the Montreal Protocol, which was held on November 1-5 in Dubai, the United Arab Emirates. Supreme Council for the Environment (SCE) Chief Executive Officer Mohammed Mubarak bin Daina led Bahrain’s delegation to the five-day session which focused on substances that deplete the Ozone Layer. Addressing the event, Dr. bin Daina thanked the UAE for hosting the crucial meeting, stressing commitment to discuss all issues and challenges which are confronting the region. He underlined the crucial importance of exploring alternatives so as to control climate-change-inducing hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs). The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) environment ministers’ meeting, which convened in Doha on October 28, stressed the commitment of the member states to discuss all challenges and seek solutions before debating proposed amendments.
