GM Daewoo's 2008 auto sales drop 8.1 pct

SEOUL, Jan. 2 (Yonhap) -- The South Korean unit of troubled U.S. auto giant
General Motors Corp. said Friday its auto sales fell 8.1 percent in 2008 from a
year ago due to a fall in global demand.
GM Daewoo Auto & Technology Co. sold a total of 880,723 vehicles last year, with
domestic sales reaching 116,520 units and exports coming to 764,203 units, the
company said in a statement.
In December, sales tumbled 56.1 percent annually to 39,074 units due to a
shutdown of all its plants in South Korea, the company said.
