Bahraini investments in Egypt top $955 million

Cairo, Oct.25 (BNA): Bahrain’s overall investments in Egypt topped $955 million by the end of August 2015, it was revealed. According to a recent report released by the General Authority for Investment and Free Zones (GAFI), a total 173 Bahraini companies are now investing in Egypt. Financial investment projects carried out through 16 companies make up a major bulk of $475 million, followed by industrial investments which topped $233 million with 36 companies. Bahrain has so far invested $127 million in 12 firms operating the agricultural sector, followed by construction investments which topped $84 million with 17 companies and the tourism sector which soared to $23 million with 12 companies operating in Egypt. Bahrain has also invested $11 million in 71 companies which are operating in the tertiary sector, followed by the IT and telecommunications with $2 million invested through 9 companies. According to the same survey, Bahraini investments are present in 16 governorates, with Cairo, Gizeh and Suez topping the list respectively while Port-Said ranks at the bottom.
