Hyundai Motor's 2008 vehicle sales rise 6.9 pct

SEOUL, Jan. 2 (Yonhap) -- Hyundai Motor Co., South Korea's top automaker, said
Friday its vehicle sales gained 6.9 percent in 2008 from a year earlier on
increased exports to emerging markets.
Hyundai Motor sold a total of 2.78 million units last year, the company said in a
regulatory filing. Domestic sales declined 8.7 percent to 570,962 units, but
exports rose 11.8 percent to 2.21 million units.
In December, the carmaker sold 219,261 units, down 2.4 percent from a year ago,
it added.
