Manama, Oct.24 (BNA): His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa congratulated Bahrain Royal Endurance Team manager, members and the accompanying media delegation over a telephone conversation today. HM the King commended on the team’s latest achievement, which is winning the first places of individuals and teams categories of the World Endurance Championship for Young Riders and Juniors in Santiago City, Chile. On the occasion of the international achievement, HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Representative of His Majesty the King for Charity Works and Youth Affairs, Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, President of Bahrain Olympic Committee and Captain of Bahrain Royal Endurance Team congratulated HM King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, HRH Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, the Prime Minister and HRH Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister. HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa asserted that the achievement comes as a result of the continuous care and support of HM the King to the Bahraini equestrian and endurance sports, which accomplished multiple regional and global successes recently. Bahraini rider Fahad Al Khatri won the first place after dominating the individuals category of the championship, while Bahrain Royal Endurance Team was crowned the winner of the teams category. Al Khatri finished the five stages of the 120-KM race in 5:20:57 time, ahead of Emirati riders Saeed Al Muhairi and Saeed Al Farisi, who crossed the finish line in second and third places respectively. As for Bahrain Royal Endurance Team, it consisted of riders Mohammed Al Khatri, Shaikh Mohammed bin Mubarak Al Khalifa, Salim Sabt, Dana Al Binghadeer Al Dossary and Fahad Al Khatri. The team finished first within 17:38:16 time. BAHRAIN EXCELLENCE, INTERNATIONAL HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa said the recent achievement of Bahrain Royal Endurance Team proves that Bahrain has become a tough international contender in equestrian and endurance sports during recent years. He thanked HM King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa for his constant support, which lead to winning the world championship. HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa highlighted the team’s commitment to trainings and the plans of the team’s administration. He said the international achievement will motivate the team to gain more in future championships and promote the Kingdom of Bahrain in international sports arenas as the champions and a strong contender. The captain of the team pointed that Bahrain won the World Endurance Championship for Young Riders and Juniors once before. Bahraini rider Fahad Sulaiman won the championship’s edition, which was organised in Bahrain in 2005. HH Shaikh Nasser said this reflects the international capabilities of Bahraini youth.
