Parliamentary delegation discusses refugees crisis

Geneva, Oct 19 (BNA): Bahrain's parliamentary delegation led by Speaker Ahmed Al-Mulla today participated in the 133rd Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) meetings in Geneva.
The meeting discussed the emergency item themed (Strengthening the role of parliamentarians in the effective implementation of the principles of international humanitarian law and international conventions on the protection of refugees) in accordance with the principles of international humanitarian law, international refugee law and 1951 Refugee Convention and the Protocol appendant in 1967.
First Deputy Speaker Ali Al-Aradi, during his participation in the work of the Committee on Human Rights of Parliamentarians on the third day, highlighted Bahrain's human rights progress and achievements made in light of the fast-developing regional events threatening the national security.
Second Deputy Shura Chairman Jameela Salman and Head of Woman and Child Committee at the Council of Representatives, Jameela Al-Samak, participated in the Third Standing Committee on Democracy and Human Rights meeting. Al-Samak underlined Bahrain's keenness on enacting laws and regulations that contribute to the support of the democratic process and human rights.
Council of Representatives Secretary General Abdullah Al-Dossari led Bahrain's delegation to the meeting of the Association of Secretaries General of Parliaments, where it was agreed on the development plans for upgrading parliamentary performance and cooperation in the fields of training and rehabilitation.
