Iran urges FAO to send food supplies for Gazans
Rome, Dec 31, IRNA - Iran's mission to the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization
(FAO) has called on the international body to immediately send food
supplies to the besieged people of Gaza.
Iran's permanent envoy to FAO, Javad Tavakkolian, told IRNA on Tuesday
that Iran sent a letter to FAO on the issue after Supreme Leader
Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei instructed every Iranian official to
mobilize their efforts to help innocent people of Gaza.
Tavakkolian said the letter urged the Rome-based officials in FAO, the
UN World Food Programme (WFP) and International Fund for Agriculture
Development (IFAD) to use all within their reach as international
bodies to help the war-stricken people of Gaza who are living in hard
conditions due to the Zionist regime's seizure.
The Israeli leaders have perpetrated crimes against humanity in Gaza
since December 27 killing about 400 dead and around 2,000 injured
mostly defenseless women and children.
The Zionist regime continued with disproportionate air strikes for
fifth day on Wednesday.
Referring to the heart-rendering situation of Gazans who are under
heavy Israeli bombardments while suffering from the lack of food,
fuel, fresh water and medicine, Tavakkolian said he urged officials of
international bodies in Rome to take immediate actions to prevent a
humanitarian disaster in Gaza.
