GDCD enforces safety measures

Manama, Oct. 12 (BNA): The General Directorate of Civil Defence (GDCD)'s Director-General said the department has implemented the required protection and safety measures in high-rises and tower buildings. Also, the department carried out 135 mock evacuation operations in 2014 for various public and private installations, buildings to ensure the public's security and safety, he added. The maintenance of alarm devices, fire extinguishers and mock evacuation drills, he said, are one of the effective means of boosting public awareness about safety measures. The drills contribute to training residents and workers in such buildings and installations on how to cope when danger looms, show them Exit Points in case of hazards and lead them to the correct Assembly Points and thus lessen the incidence of losses.
