Hyundai Heavy misses 2008 order target
SEOUL, Dec. 31 (Yonhap) -- Hyundai Heavy Industries Co., the world's largest
shipbuilder, said Wednesday that it failed to meet this year's order target due
to the global economic slump.
It received orders valued at US$28.2 billion this year, up 12.77 percent from $25
billion last year, the shipyard said in a regulatory filing.
But it fell short of its yearly target of $29.4 billion, according to Hyundai Heavy.
Its sales increased 23.36 percent to 19.63 trillion won this year as vessels were
ordered at higher prices.
