"Legislative Branch is the government's essential partner"

Manama, Oct. 5 (BNA): His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa has affirmed the government's constant keenness on broadening the scope of Executive-Legislature cooperation, giving the fact that the Legislative Branch is the government's essential partner in the national work march, stressing that the regional security and economic situation requires concerted national efforts in order to overcome the current phase safely. HRH Premier expressed hope that the Legislative Branch will continue supporting the government's efforts to improve the national economy and provide a secure environment in which the development process can flourish and achieve its goals of serving the citizens. HRH the Prime Minister made the statements as he received at the Gudaibiya Palace today the Speaker of the Representatives Council Ahmed bin Ibrahim Al-Mulla, Chairman of the Shura Council Ali bin Saleh Al Saleh, deputy chairmen of the Representatives and Shura councils and MPs, in the presence of former Speaker Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Dhahrani and a number of senior state officials. HRH Premier called upon everyone to be aware of the size of challenges currently facing the kingdom of Bahrain, in particular, and the region, in general, noting that the government is doing its best to ensure that the citizens are not affected by their negative impacts. The government started reducing its expenditure through adopting a number of initiatives that will decrease its spending, he said. Representatives of the Legislative Branch expressed pride in the Information and Communication Technology in Sustainable Development Award bestowed on HRH Premier by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU). In this regard, HRH the Prime Minister said that the fact that he had been honoured by international organisations and countries for achievements related serving the citizens and improving the quality of services delivered to them is a real source of pride. On regional and global developments, HRH Premier urged vigilance and caution of the instable situation in the region, and called for the need to work collectively in order to ensure that troubles and chaos scenes do not move to other Arab regions. He explained that instability in some countries have led to their destruction and the displacement of their peoples, stressing the importance of addressing the problems that led to the aggravation of the situation in those countries fundamentally.
