Speaker receives UNDP resident-representative

Manama, Sept. 29 (BNA): Speaker of the Council of Representatives Ahmed bin Ibrahim Al-Mulla has underscored the role of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in the Kingdom of Bahrain in order to develop the framework of strategic cooperation, based on the Kingdom's priorities and post-2015 sustainable development agenda. He stressed on putting an annual parliamentary plan so as to support the council's training plans for MPs or affiliates. The speaker commended UNDP's various expertise which provides knowledge and training capabilities, and supports the legislative work in the Kingdom of Bahrain. This came as the speaker received the UN Resident Coordinator and Resident Representative of UNDP in Bahrain Peter Grohmann. First Deputy Speaker MP Ali Al-Aradi, UNDP Deputy Resident Representative Ameen Al-Sharqawi, Assistant Secretary-General for Financial Affairs, Human Resources, Information Technology and Services yasser Al-Shirawi and Head of the Department of Training and Development at the General Secretariat of the Council of Representatives Mohammed Saleh Al-Dawood were present.
