HM the King receives UK defence secretary

Manama, Sept. 29 (BNA): His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa received at the Gudaibiya Palace today, in the presence of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister, the UK Defence Secretary Michael Fallon, currently on a visit to the kingdom. HM the King welcomed the UK Defence Secretary, and reviewed with him the long-standing relations of friendship and cooperation bonding the two countries, lauding the advanced level of the Bahraini-British relations in various fields, particularly regarding military coordination and defence cooperation. HM the King affirmed constant keenness on enhancing the deep-rooted bilateral ties so as to reach the best levels and serve the interests of the two friendly peoples. HM King Hamad stressed that the Kingdom of Bahrain is a role model in tolerance, co-existence and love among all religions and sects. HM the King affirmed the kingdom's support to all regional and international efforts to maintain regional security, stability and peace. In this regard, HM the King lauded the role played by the United Kingdom and its contributions to strengthening the pillars of security and stability in the region, and serving global issues. HM King Hamad discussed with the British minister the latest regional and global developments, as well as issues of common interest. The UK Defence Secretary expressed sincere thanks and appreciation to HM the King for his keenness on maintaining the steady growth of bilateral cooperation, reiterating his country's commitment towards the Kingdom of Bahrain in all fields. He praised the depth of the long-standing Bahraini-UK relations.
