Foreign Minister attends UNGA session

New York, Sep.28 (BNA): The Minister of Foreign Affairs Shaikh Khalid bin Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Khalifa took part with the leaders and heads of delegations of countries of the world in the opening of the 70th Session of the United Nations General Assembly of at the UN headquarters in New York. Secretary-General of the United Nations Ban Ki-Moon has opened the general debate of the General Assembly and delivered a speech covered the pressing challenges of the day including the crucial problems and crises facing our modern world that necessitate concerted international efforts to resolve and eradicate them, among them is immigration, terrorism, extremism, the situations in Syrian, Yemen, and development and other issues. UN General Assembly President, Mogens Lykketoft addressed the post 2015 Agenda for Sustainable Development to be achieved by the international community and the importance of the Sustainable Development Goals in securing better life for all States. Among the speakers who addressed the general debate of the 70th UNGA Session are: President Dilma Rousseff of Brazil, US President Barak Obama, His Majesty King Abdullah II Bin Al-Hussein of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, in addition to a number of the world leaders and heads of delegations participating in the debate of the 70th Session of the General Assembly in New York. The meetings of the United Nations General Assembly debates provide an avenue for consultation and exchange of views between all countries of the world on the challenging issues and problems facing human societies and device innovative solutions to these problems to ultimately lead to a more secure and stable future for all nations. The world leaders and heads of delegations’ speeches to be delivered in front of UNGA have direct impact on the current crisis and means to address them.
