Foreign Minister congratulates Premier

New York, Sep.27 (BNA): The Minister of Foreign Affairs Shaikh Khalid bin Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Khalifa extended his deepest congratulations to His Royal Highness the Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, on the award of the "Information and Communication Technology in sustainable development" by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) at the United Nations Headquarters New York on the occasion marking the 150th anniversary of the ITU establishment. Attending the honouring ceremony of HRH the Prime Minister, the minister said the event reflects the international recognition of the major role of HRH the Premier in support and achievement of the goals of sustainable development, and a consensus of the members of the international community on the development achievements of the Bahraini government led by him in various fields, as well as its real breakthrough in the field of information and communication technology development." The minister affirmed that the award will be added to HRH Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa’s local and international outstanding achievements record, who exerted tremendous efforts to set solid grounds of human and urban development in the Kingdom of Bahrain that qualified it to be among developing nations in different and vital areas that represent the core of any development process. Those achievements qualified HRHR the Premier to receive many international medals and awards including, Urban Development and Housing Award in 2007, The Avicenna Prize gold medal from UNESCO in 2009, the United Nations Millennium Development Goals Achievement Award in 2010. Shaikh Khalid noted that the Award is an acknowledgment of the openness, transparency and willingness of Bahrain to cooperate and collaborate with the rest of the international community to take every opportunity in the field of Information and Communication Technology to inject new momentum to the achievement of sustainable development goals.
