Mosti To Use German Technology To Protect Country's Coastline - Mosti Deputy Minister

MELAKA (Malaysia), Sept 22 (Bernama) -- The Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (Mosti) plan to use a high tech equipment from Germany to prevent erosion and protect the country's coastal erosion. Mosti deputy minister Dr Abu Bakar Mohamad Diah said to initiate the use of the hi-tech equipment at the proposed Pantai Puteri beach in Tanjung Kling, here over a distance of 5.6km, an allocation of US$9.35 million (RM40 million) would be needed to protect and preserve the coastal areas. "The hi-tech equipment which will be installed in the sea about 20m from the shore, will help prevent erosion and maintain the structure of the beach. Once the technology has been installed, researchers from Mosti will monitor the equipment which needs a big allocation,” he told reporters after launching a campaign to protect the beaches called 'Pantai Puteri-Cintai Pantai Kita', here Monday. He said the technology had also been effectively and successfully installed in Pattaya (Thailand), Jakarta (Indonesia) and Europe. -- BERNAMA
