Bahraini-Jordanian parliamentary delegations hold talks

Manama, Sept. 20 (BNA): Speaker of the Council of Representatives Ahmed bin Ibrahim Al-Mulla and his Jordanian counterpart Atef Tarawneh chaired here today the Bahrain-Jordan parliamentary talks. The two sides affirmed the need to activate parliamentary cooperation, and rejected foreign interference in domestic affairs and any attempt to support terrorism and violence, currently witnessed by the region, stressing that the security and stability of the region's countries and peoples should be maintained. They discussed ways to enhance joint cooperation and coordination vis-à-vis the challenges currently faced by the region, and underlined their support for the projects and programmes that boost economic development in the two brotherly countries. Speaker of the Jordanian House of Representatives Atef Tarawneh lauded the kingdoms' achievements, gains, democratic march and reform project spearheaded by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, praising HM King Hamad's outstanding relations with HM King Abdulla II of Jordan. Representatives Council Speaker Al-Mulla reiterated Bahrain's firm stances in support of Jordan's security and stability and keenness on consolidating all measures that safeguard the region's security and ensure that the sovereignty of GCC and Arab countries is not encroached upon. Talks focused on ways to enhance the two councils' cooperation, as well as ways to counter terror groups, which are backed by "well-known foreign sides", to fuel conflicts among countries and peoples. The kingdom's achievements and democratic march within HM the King's Reform march, as well as its parliamentary, political, economic, security, services, environmental, human rights and women accomplishments were also highlighted during the meeting.
