Bahrain to organise Azerbaijan F1 race in 2016

Manama, Sep.19 (BNA): Bahrain will organise the Azeri capital’s inaugural F1 Grand Prix race, due to be held on July 17, 2016. Bahrain won the bid to organise the race after fierce competition with Britain, Australia, the UAE, Russia, India and Hungary. The kingdom was granted the honour following its success in organising the debut F1 race in India in 2011, the UAE F1 race in 2009, and a number of other key races and events, as well as its pioneering reputation and expertise, being the home of motorsport in the Middle East. Taking place in the city centre and the g Caspian seashore, the 6.007 km track has 20 corners and 51 laps, and will be during the day.
