ARC-WH Chairperson calls for preserving Arab heritage

Manama, Sep 13 (BNA): Arab Regional Centre for World Heritage (ARC-WH)'s Chairperson Shaikha Mai bint Mohammed Al Khalifa has received a delegate from the International Union for Conservation of Nature and Natural Resources (IUCN) led by Director-General Inger Andersen. ARC-WH Director Munir Bushnaqi attended the meeting. The visit comes in the framework of the cooperation agreement between the two sides, and to discuss the possibility of bringing more achievements at the level of Arab natural heritage that are considered as attracting centers for cultural and environment tourism. She called for concerted national and international efforts for the conservation of the Arab heritage, noting Bahrain's leading role in preserving Arab and international heritage by hosting the ARC-WH headquarters. IUCN Director-General commended the ARC-WH role in preserving the Arab heritage. She point out that the cooperation agreement, during the past few years, have led to bringing many achievements in terms of following up the maintenance of Arab natural heritage sites and improving the performance of the managements of Arab competent institutions.
