SINGAPORE URGES PALESTINE, ISRAEL TO RESUME TRUCE

SINGAPORE, Dec 30 (Bernama) -- Singapore, concerned over the escalating conflicts between Palestine and Israel that have resulted in over 300 Palestinians being killed in attacks by Israeli war planes on Gaza this week, has urged all parties to stop the war.

"We urge all parties to exercise maximum restraint and work towards an early
re-establishment of the cease-fire," Singapore's Foreign Affairs Ministry said
in response to media queries on the situation in Gaza.

"We are deeply concerned about the situation in Gaza with mounting civilian
casualties and the possibility of a humanitarian catastrophe," the ministry
said.

Singapore hoped that once the truce is achieved there would not be a
repetition of the events that also resulted in the loss of many innocent lives
and led to the current escalation of conflict, it added.
