Bahrain attends GCC social affairs ministerial meeting

Manama, Sep 9 (BNA): Social Development Minister Faeqa Al-Saleh led Bahrain's delegation to the Second GCC Ministerial Committee of Labour and Social Affairs, held on 7 September in Doha . The meeting discussed topics on its agenda, notably the proposal of the Kingdom of Bahrain to form a joint GCC charity coordinating body, which has received the approval of the member states. A decision was made to prepare a study on its implementation mechanism. A team was charged with preparing the GCC joint action strategy in the field of social development chaired by Saudi Social Affairs Minister, and membership of Bahraini, UAE and Kuwaiti social ministers, in addition to GCC Secretary-General. On the sidelines of the meeting, the minister held a meeting with her Saudi counterpart, Majid Al-Qusabi, who praised Bahrain's experience in the areas of civil society organizations and parent care centers, and the role of the Family Bank in supporting and funding microenterprises projects. The meeting also discussed topics relating to GCC social affair and challenges faced by social and development action in the Gulf region.
