GPIC honours "biggest loser"

Manama, Sept. 9 (BNA): The Gulf Petrochemical Industries Company (GPIC) has honoured Corporate Communications Department employee Ibrahim Mohamed Al Ali for having lost 45 kilos excess weight in one year. Company President Dr. Abdulrahman Jawahery complimented Al Ali and said the GPIC Management attaches great importance to the Company employees’ health and has initiated a programme for all GPIC's employees to maintain good health and remain fit. He said as part of the programme, the Company works with expert nutritionists and dieticians who provide education and create awareness on how to stay healthy and fit. Special dietary information is also for employees to lose and manage their weight. Dr. Jawahery said the Company's restaurant serves healthy meals in coordination with those in charge of the programme, which helps facilitate the tasks of the obesity management team. GPIC President spoke on the importance of public health care and to maintain an ideal weight, and stressed the need for a balanced diet that contains all nutrients needed by the body according to age, sex and other vital parameters. He said such planning helps an individual change the way of life and instills discipline, without which no one can lose weight effectively. In addition, he said, they have to be supervised by specialists so as to prevent any side effects. Dr. Jawahery thanked all of the Company’s health and fitness team as well as the employees for the success of the programme and said the Management will honour and award all members who complete the programme successfully. Al Ali thanked the Company’s Management for their encouragement, particularly that from Dr. Jawahery himself for having successfully completed the programme. He also thanked the Company’s Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Mohammed Jibril as well as the officials of the GPIC Club for having provided their support, encouragement and all the latest and modernized equipment. He said he was committed to exercise two hours a day for five days a week, which included weight lifting. He praised the role of the Club’s qualified trainers who gave him the motivation to reach the ideal weight.
