Foreign Minister: Bahrain looking forward to signing MoU with OHCHR

Manama, Sept. 7 (BNA): Foreign Minister Shaikh Khalid bin Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Khalifa has stated that the Kingdom of Bahrain is looking forward to signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR), as soon as possible to launch a programme of cooperation in fields of technical assistance and capacity-building between the two sides. In a phone call with Prince Zeid bin Ra’ad Al Hussein, the High Commissioner for Human Rights, earlier today, the minister reiterated Bahrain’s zero-tolerance policy towards human rights violations and its commitment to upholding internationally acknowledged human rights standards by addressing allegations of human rights abuses through its independent judiciary and accountability mechanisms. The High Commissioner for Human Rights stated that the OHCHR is looking forward to the prospective cooperation program with the Kingdom of Bahrain.
