Sharjah Ruler tours Wadi Al-Hilu, visits the largest man-made waterfall in the region
Sharjah, Dec 30, 2008 (WAM): HH Dr Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, UAE Supreme Council member and ruler of Sharjah made an inspectional tour of the Wadi Al-Hilu region yesterday.
The visit was made as part of the Ruler's efforts to assess the needs of various townships and neighbourhoods in the emirate.
Wadi Al-Hilu, with a population of nearly 500 people, lies five kilometres towards the north-west of Kalba city. Over 80 houses were constructed and distributed in this area earlier by the government. Wadi Al-Hilu has three schools for boys and girls, a mosque and a health centre according to official figures.
Sheikh Sultan inspected the services provided by various government departments to the inhabitants of this township and ordered to renovate the Al-Heer neighbourhood located midway between Kalba and Wadi Al-Hilu.
The Ruler, accompanied by government officials, also visited the waterfall in the mountainous region facing the government projects. The waterfall down the cliffs is considered the largest man-made one in the entire Gulf region.
