HRH Premier issues edict 50/2015

Manama, Aug. 25 (BNA): His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa today issued Edict 50/2015 establishing the Frequency Spectrum Strategy and Coordination Committee. Chaired by the Central Informatics Organisation (CIO), the panel’s members include representatives of: - the Directorate of Wireless Licensing, Frequency and Monitoring -CIO - the Directorate of Telecommunications –Ministry of Transportation and Telecommunications - the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) - the National Security Agency - the Bahrain Defence Force (BDF) - the Ministry of Interior - the National Guard - the Ports and Maritime Affairs - Ministry of Transportation and Telecommunications - the Civil Aviation Affairs - Ministry of Transportation and Telecommunications - the Information Affairs Authority (IAA) Each party shall name their representative, who should hold the position of a director, at least. Members will serve for renewable three-year terms. The panel shall coordinate the requirements of the Frequency Spectrum while preparing the National Frequency Plan. The committee shall convene at least once every three months at the request of its chairman. The panel’s meetings will not be valid unless the majority of its members, including necessarily the chairman, are attending. The committee issues its resolutions and recommendations by the majority of the attending members, and in case of a tie, the chairman’s vote will be decisive. The panel may form specialised sub-committee to study technical issues and submit the necessary recommendations. It may also invite any persons it deems necessary to attend its meetings or those of sub-committees, without giving them the right to vote. Edict 5/2008 with respect to the establishment of the Spectrum Strategy and Coordination Committee will be cancelled. The edict will be effective as per the date of its issuance, and will be published in the Official Gazette.
