Summer Camp hones youth talents, immunises them against crime

Manama, Aug. 15 (BNA): Royal Academy of Police (RAP) Commandant Colonel Shaikh Hamad bin Mohammed Al Khalifa has asserted that the Youth Summer Camp, organised by RAP for the age group of 12 to 17 years, aims to hone youth talents and develop them in all mental, physical and psychological fields. He said the camp promotes community partnership and instills the principles of citizenship and Bahraini identity, through investing in the positive energies of young people and rehabilitating them to meet the requirements of the Reform Project spearheaded by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and the Economic Vision for Bahrain, 2030, in order to be prepared to be future leaders. Organised by RAP in collaboration with Tamkeen and a number of institutions, the camp seeks to immunise youngsters and youth against the scourges of crime and delinquency, motivate them to get prepared for the future, seize opportunities and meet the challenges, he said. It also aims to train participants to be disciplined, self-reliant and altruistic, foster community partnership and consolidate relations between the state institutions and society and youth, he added in a statement to the Bahrain News Agency (BNA). Launched in 2009 following directives from His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister, the summer camp embraces Bahrain youngsters and provides them with the required sciences and cultural capabilities in order to be effective members in their society, he noted. He pointed out that the camp consolidates Community Partnership, among the most important principles stressed by the Interior Ministry, through fostering the values of loyalty to the leadership, assuming responsibility and building a strong personality. The three-week camp creates a new generation of leaders, and helps build human relations and fruitful friendships, he added.
