Youth key role in nation-building stressed

Manama, Aug. 11 (BNA): Personal Representative of HM the King for Charity Work and Youth Affairs, Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sport and President of Bahrain Olympic Committee Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa emphasised the top priority given by Bahrain to the youth momentum in its 2030 Economic Vision, thanks to the directives of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.
Marking the World Youth Day, he underlined the key role assigned with Bahraini youngsters in fast-tracking development and attaining set up goals. He pointed out the royal initiatives launched since HM the King’s accession to the throne to boost the role of the youth in the development march and foster their patriotism.
He also underscored the importance of Bahraini youngsters as key players in the community given their pioneering role in civil work. He underscored keenness of SCYS to support the youth through various programmes, adding that the royal reform project had paved the way for them to take part in civil work. He also pointed out the step taken by Bahrain in reducing the eligibility age for parliamentary and municipal elections which reflects keenness to further engage the youth in civil and political life.
He emphasised the large-scale participation of Bahraini youngsters in the previous elections by running for the parliamentary and municipal seats and exercising their constitutional role in voting, which reflects high awareness of the importance of participating in mapping out schemes directed at them.
