Religious figures to sign joint statement against Iran's interference

Manama, July 28 (BNA): The Justice, Islamic Affairs and Endowments Ministry has called on the kingdom’s scholars, imams, preachers, Shari’a judges and teachers of religious schools and Hawzas (seminaries) to voices national stances against Iran’s blatant interference in the kingdom’s domestic affairs. Undersecretary for Islamic Affairs Dr. Farid bin Yaqoob Al Meftah said the ministry will receive, in cooperation with the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, the kingdom’s scholars and affiliates of the religious sector, from the two sects, to sign a condemnation statement. The event will be held at the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs premises in Juffair on Thursday at 09:00 am, he said. He underlined the pivotal role played by the religious discourse in addressing the Iranian interference in Bahrain’s internal affairs, calling on all concerned sides to assume their national responsibilities and spare no effort to enhance national unity and take clear and firm stances against the repeated meddling. They should also rally together against those who incite violence, spark chaos and fuel sedition and use sabotage and explosion as means to achieve their goals which harm social security and peaceful co-existence among the components of our society, in line with the teachings of Islam, he said. The undersecretary pointed out that the first steps to be taken are solidarity among scholars and religious figures and their signing of the condemnation statement, noting that the ministry has coordinated with religion-related institutions and bodies to achieve its gaols.
