Parliamentary committee strongly condemns Sitra terror blast

Manama, July 28 (BNA): The Foreign Affairs, Defence and National Security Committee at the Council of Representatives has condemned, in the strongest terms, the terror blast which targeted Sitra, killing two innocent on-duty security personnel, and wounding others. The heinous explosion is a new message by the "fifth column" in Bahrain in a bid to break the will of the Bahraini people and bring the situation back to square one through murder, intimidation and spreading fear in the hearts of the citizens and residents. In a statement to mass media, MP bin Huweil called upon the governments of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) to immediately push for the Gulf Union as the best guarantor for the security of Bahrain and other member states. The Council of Representatives will not hesitate to take all necessary legislative measures to protect lives and prevent sedition and make sure that perpetrators of such hideous crimes receive the most severe penalties to be an example for advocates of sedition and murder, he said. He added that despite the serious domestic and external challenges, the kingdom will confront all threats firmly and resolutely thanks to the strong determination of its people and leadership to cement national unity and safeguard hard-won national gains and achievements. MP bin Hueil extended sincere condolences to the families of the martyrs of duty, expressing full solidarity with the Ministry of Interior and security bodies in taking all necessary precautionary measures to ensure the security of the citizens and residents.
