Zarif: Sistani Blesses The International Steps To Support Stability And Reject Extremism

Najaf / NINA / Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said the religious authority Ali al-Sistani blessed the international steps to support stability and reject extremism and fighting against terrorism in the region. Zarif, during a press conference, held after his meeting with the highest religious authority, in the latter's office in Najaf said that he had submitted a detailed report to Sistani about the nuclear talks and agreement with the Western countries, stressing the continuation of Iran's support for Iraq in fight against terrorism, extremism and rejection of sectarianism. Zarif said in the press conference, "I am very pleased after having the opportunity to visit Iraq again." He added, "We were always beside the Iraqi government and the Iraqi people in their fight against extremism, terrorism and sectarianism, and so we were and we are still, and we will continue with this approach in the future." He continued, "we had a visit to the Gulf region, and it is the first tour after the end of the nuclear talks to develop relations between the Islamic Republic of Iran with its neighboring countries and to ensure the interests of the whole region and the interests of the Islamic countries and consolidate the peace and international security and stability and we had a good talks and good negotiations with some countries and today we are in Iraq for the sustainability of this approach and to continue the talk for peace and security. " He said that the issue of extremism and sectarianism is a threat to all nations and peoples and there is an urgent need for concluded coordination among nations and peoples in the region to unite in facing this danger and here the role of the religion authority and the rest of the religious authorities emerges, which we depend on, because they have very prominent role and I had the honor to meet with al-Sistani and we raised, at the meeting, what helps us a lot to move forward to continue this approach and dialogue and to walk in this area and in this way, we will have talks with the rest of the religious authorities. " He concluded, "I presented to Sistani a general report on the nuclear talks and important issues facing the region and we listened to his views in this regard and he has his assertions on the need to find a coordinated action to achieve peace and stability in the region and fight terrorism and extremism, and this is the opinion of the religion authorities and scholars from Sunni and Shiite, and they all emphasize the solidarity and cooperation, and we are delighted to the presence of the religion authorities and scholars in the first row in this area ./ End
