Attempts of smuggling 447 antiquities foiled in 2008
SANA'A, Dec. 25 (Saba) - Security Authorities has thwarted many
attempts to smuggle 447 various pieces of antiquity at the Sana'a
International Airport in 2008 compared to 330 pieces in 2007.
Director-General of the Protection of Antiquities and Cultural
Properties at the General Authority for Antiquities and Museums
Hisham al-Thawr the antiquities have been captured in about 50
smuggling foiled attempts.
About 23 cases of trading and smuggling antiquities have been
submitted to the prosecution in 2007 - 2008.
