Manama, July 11 (BNA): The Supreme Organising Committee of BIASis pleased to announce Gulf Petrochemical Industries Company (GPIC), as the Silver Sponsor for the Bahrain International Airshow 2016. The fourth edition of the Bahrain International Airshow, held under the patronage of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, and under the supervision of His Highness Shaikh Abdullah bin Hamad Al Khalifa - HM the King's Personal Representative and Head of the Supreme Organising Committee of BIAS, will be hosted at Sakhir Air Base, Kingdom of Bahrain from 21 to 23 January 2016. The Show is organised by the Ministry of Transportation and Telecommunications and the Royal Bahraini Air Force in association with Farnborough International. Kamal bin Ahmed Mohammed, Minister of Transportation and Telecommunications and Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Organising Committee for BIAS signed the agreement with GPIC, which has been a sponsor of the Bahrain International Airshow in its previous three editions. The minister said "GPIC’s continuous support since the inaugural launch in 2010 is a testament to the airshow’s success and the company’s commitment in being one of the leading Bahraini companies that sponsors such a high profile international event." He added that this support further boosts Bahrain’s economic and commercial growth and helps showcase the Kingdom’s capabilities and success to host international events on the scale of the Bahrain International Airshow, and thanked GPIC for its continued support, emphasizing the importance of public-private cooperation in contributing to the success of the event, and of forging long-lasting partnerships to achieve common goals. His Excellency reaffirmed his hopes that such cooperation would continue into the future. Speaking on behalf of GPIC, Dr. Abdulrahman Jawahery, President of GPIC, said that the company’s support of the 2016 show comes as a continuation of its repeated participation in the previous shows. "The Bahrain International Airshow is a key event that is widely anticipated by visitors both inside and outside Bahrain. The Show attracts major participation from the international community at all levels, and has a proven track record of being well organised and boasting significant attendance and representation from the largest companies in the civil and military aviation sectors across the globe." Building on the success of the 2014 show and the Supreme Organising Committee’s commitment in adding to the show’s accolades, additional new features for the show have been developed with the objective to create even more networking opportunities for the participants and visitors. The 2016 edition will include an exhibition feature hall focused on unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) and airport infrastructure. With the continuing expansion of the UAV market, strong demand is expected from businesses that are looking to exploit both the commercial and defence applications of the sector. The civil and military delegation program will also provide extensive opportunities of engagement for delegates and exhibitor with an overall aim to highlighting BIAS’s role as a networking event that establishes a unique platform for doing business. Key conferences and networking events will also be hosted during the 2016 show which aim at furtherdriving the event’s status as a key venue for high-level networking and business negotiations. These include a Hosted Buyer Programme and ‘The AirTransport in the 21st CenturyConference"will take place on day two and day three of the show. The ‘Manama Air Power Symposium’ will also be held the day before the start of the show and will invite Air Force chiefs from over 20 countries in the MENA region and other key locations to discuss the leading issues of the day. Confirmed companies participating to date in the BIAS 2016 include BAE Systems, Boeing, Felex (Italy), Rostec (Russia), Qatar Airways, Gulfstream, and Airbus amongst other international aviation civil and defence companies.
