HRH Premier's development role lauded by UNDP administrator

New York, July 9 (BNA): Social Develpment Minister Faeqa Al-Saleh has held here a meeting with the UN Development Programme (UNDP) Administrator Helen Clark.
Held on the sidelines of the Third Meeting of the High-level Political Forum on Sustainable Development here, the meeting discussed the existing Bahrain-UNDP cooperation and ways to enhance it so as to consolidate the kingdom’s sustainable development efforts.
UNDP administer lauded His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa’s role in the field of development in the kingdom, and support to various regional and global efforts to achieve development and upgrade the standards of living of humans across the world. She recalled her meeting with HRH Premier during which she was informed about his vision on the importance of collective action to achieve human and sustainable development.
Helen Clark expressed UNDP’s readiness to cooperate with the kingdom to prepare for the Arab ministerial conference on the "Post-2015 Global Sustainable Development Agenda in Arab Countries," to be hosted by Manama on December 6-7, 2015.
She lauded the "Bahrain Document" issued by the second High-Level Arab Forum on Sustainable Development from May 5 to 7, 2015.
The UNDP administrator praised Bahrain’s successes in achieving millennium development goals, and preparing for the development goals of sustainable development through the "Bahrain Document".
She valued highly the kingdom’s constant support to the UNDP office and other UN regional offices in Manama.
Social Development Minister held another meeting with the UN Secretary-General’s Special Adviser on Post-2015 Development Planning Amina Mohammed.
The minister discussed with Amina Mohammed ways to enhance cooperation on supporting the comprehensive and sustainable development process currently witnessed by the kingdom in all fields. She also presented her with a copy of the "Bahrain Document".
The UN Secretary-General’s Special Advisor praised the recommendations included in the "Bahrain Document".
He said she would participate in the Arab Ministerial Conference on "Post-2015 Global Sustainable Development Agenda in Arab Countries," to be hosted by the kingdom from December 6 to 7, 2015.
She affirmed that she was looking forward to meeting the Bahraini leadership on the sidelines of her participation in the conference.
She explained that the conference would discuss the challenges facing governments in implementing the sustainable development agenda.
She expressed admiration of the crucial and vital role played by Bahraini women in the development and progress witnessed by the kingdom as a result of the incessant support of the leadership.
