Cyclone Billy headed near Pilbara
The Bureau of Meteorology advises a cyclone warning is current for coastal
communities on the Western Australia coastline, near Pilbara.
A previous cyclone warning from Pardoo to Port Headland has been cancelled.
At 2pm (WDT) on Thursday the cyclone was reported to be located well to the north of
the Pilbara coast and moving westward in the next few days.
Wind gusts of up to 100km/h may develop between Port Headland and Mardie on Thursday
if Billy takes a more south westerly track.
The bureau said the likelihood of a tropical cyclone occurring in the region on
Friday, Saturday and Sunday was high
