National holiday road toll reaches 26

No new road deaths have been reported as Australians celebrate Christmas, with the
national holiday toll remaining at 26.
The latest fatality was reported overnight from Western Australia, where a
69-year-old cyclist died after being involved in a collision with a car north of
Perth on Wednesday.
He was taken to Royal Perth Hospital where he died overnight.
Victoria tops the road toll with eight deaths, followed by New South Wales on seven.
There have been four deaths in both Queensland and Western Australia, two in the
Northern Territory, one in South Australia, while Tasmania and the ACT remain
fatality free.
