Bahrain Public Library in Al-Quds inaugurated

Manama, July 8 (BNA): Under the patronage of HM the King’s Personal Representative for Charity Work and Youth Affairs and Board of Trustees Chairman of the Royal Charity Organisation (RCO) Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, RCO Secretary-General Dr. Musafa Al-Sayed inaugurated the Bahrain Public Library in the Old City in Al-Quds.
The first of its kind in the Old City since 1967, the Bahrain Public Library was opened in collaboration with the UN Development Programme (UNDP) and Al-Quds University.
Shaikh Nasser extended sincere thanks and appreciation to His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, RCO’s Honorary President, for his honourable stances towards the Palestinian and constant support for humanitarian work required by the teachings of the Islamic religion and the brotherly Bahraini-Palestinian relations.
Such a kind humanitarian gesture aims to consolidate the Arab and Islamic identity in the Old City in Jerusalem and enrich systematic charitable work in Bahrain and abroad, in collaboration with the UN, Shaikh Nasser said, noting that it reflects Bahrain’s firm stances in support of the just Palestinian cause.
He lauded the unlimited support of the government, led by His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, and the backing of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister.
The move stems from RCO’s national and Arab message emphasised by HM the King since its inception.
He pledged that the kingdom’s support to the brotherly Palestinian people will continue un-wavered in line with HM the King’s directives.
RCO Secretary-General extended sincere thanks and appreciation to HM King Hamad for the kind gesture, commending Shaikh Nasser’s continuous efforts to support the brotherly Palestinian people.
He said the library aims to foster culture among the Palestinian people.
Based on a historical building run by Al-Quds University, the three-storey building includes many rooms, halls and lecture hall.
It includes manuscripts, books and studies about Al-Quds and Palestine, literature, poetry, Islamic and Arab history, as well as history, science and technology. It will be equipped with computers and technological devices. A special website for the library was also launched.
Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Al-Quds University Ahmed Qurei extended profound thanks and appreciation to Bahrain’s leadership, government and people for their support to the Palestinians, lauding solid bilateral relations.
Al-Quds Governor Adnan Al-Husaini lauded Bahrain’s interest in the Palestinian cause and keenness to on upgrading the cultural infrastructure in Al-Quds.
UNDP Deputy Special Representative of Operations Khaled Shahwan said the library adds to Bahrain’s numerous projects carried out in collaboration with UNDP, noting that the library, located in a historical building, will contribute to preserving the Palestinian culture.
