Southern Governor: Security volunteers start work tomorrow

Manama, July 2(BNA): Southern Governor Shaikh Abdullah bin Rashid Al Khalifa announced on Thursday that the security volunteers will start tomorrow to participate in the protection of places of worships under the supervision of policemen.
They will be assigned at mosques that perform Juma prayer and attract huge number of visitors. He said that a number of security procedures have been taken as part of ongoing meetings with Interior Ministry officials.
This was highlighted when the governor chaired a security meeting with the General Director of Southern Governorate Police Brigadier Shaikh Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, heads of police stations in the district and a number of officials.
He was briefed on the final security and preventative procedures to protect worshipers and places of worships as part of the directives of the Interior Minister.
The governor called upon preachers and scholars to urge people to cooperate with security authorities to back protection plans and programmes, highlighting importance of religious speeches that promote national unity and moderation approach. He hailed steps taken by the Interior Ministry and Ministry of Justice, Islamic Affairs and endowment to monitor religious speeches.
