Iran-Oman ties, model for regional states: President

Tehran, Dec 24, IRNA President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said that Iran and Oman enjoy a lasting,
cordial and constructive relations which can serve as a model for
other nations in the region.

He made the remarks in a meeting with the visiting Minister of
Commerce, Industry and Minerals of Oman Maqbul bin Ali Sultan who is
currently in Tehran to attend the Tehran-Muscat economic commission
and hold separate meetings with senior Iranian officials.

The president said that there is no obstacle on the way of promotion
of bilateral ties between Iran and Oman, emphasizing the need for
further cooperation between the two nations.

He added that the present international situation, particularly the
economic crisis, has created a good opportunity for the Persian Gulf
littoral states to expand bilateral relations among them.

The Omani minister urged regional countries to promote their
cooperation with other nations in the region due to the worsening
economic situation of the world.

He also called for Tehran and Muscat to increase their joint
investments in various economic fields.
