Projects to preserve Muharraq's heritage features discussed

Manama, July 1 (BNA): President of the National Authority for Culture and Antiquities (BACA) Shaikha Mai bint Mohammed Al Khalifa received here today the Chairman of the Muharraq Municipal Council Mohammed Al Snan and representatives of the local community, in the presence of BACA’s Heritage Preservation Advisor Dr. Ala’a Al-Habshi. Shaikha Mai highlighted the cultural importance of the Muharraq City, stressing the need to coordinate efforts to preserve the city’s heritage features during the implementation of urban projects. The meeting touched on a number of projects being implemented by BACA to maintain the iconic city’s specific historical features and step up efforts to beautify it. Shaikha Mai called for the need to maintain the city’s deep-rooted urban structure through revamping historical houses.
