KEPCO denies report on Kazakhstan deal

By Nam Kwang-sik
SEOUL, Dec. 24 (Yonhap) -- Korea Electric Power Corp. (KEPCO) rejected a news
report Wednesday that a consortium led by it has won a US$4.7 billion power
station deal from Kazakhstan's state energy company.
Maeil Business Newspaper, a local economic daily, reported that the consortium of
KEPCO and Samsung C&T Corp., a South Korean trading and construction company, has
clinched the deal from Samruk Energy.
"The consortium submitted a bid for the thermal power station project on Nov. 13,
but the bidding results have not been released yet," the state-run KEPCO said in
a statement.
The Kazakhstani company has yet to select a preferred bidder for the project,
KEPCO added.
