Volunteer work in world heritage sites urged

Manama, June 25 (BNA): UNESCO World Heritage Centre has called on Arab youth to volunteer in the 2015 World Heritage Volunteers programme, which aims at encouraging Arab youth from 18-30 years to work in world heritage sites.
The programme also aims at responding to the risk of the destruction of heritage and the dissemination of hatred through the calls of unity, solidarity and cooperation embodied by the volunteers' participation in preserving the heritage.
Arab Regional Centre for World Heritage Assistant Director Shaikh Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Khalifa said that the preservation of heritage is a collective obligation. He noted the youth as a key source for the protection of the heritage.
