RCA delegation visits Yemen
Sana'a, Dec 24, 2008 (WAM) - In line with the directives of President HH Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan to build and renovate thousand homes for the victims of the recent floods in Yemen, a delegation from UAE Red Crescent Authority (RCA) headed by the Assistant Secretary General for Relief and Projects Saleem Al Junaibi paid a visit today to Adamou.
Upon arrival in the Yemeni capital, the delegation held a discussion with the UAE ambassador to Yemen Abdullah Mattar Al Mazroui about the primary concepts about executing the project.
Al Mazroui said that the people and government of Yemen are looking at this humanitarian gesture of Sheikh Khalifa with deep gratitude.
Al Junaibi said that the delegation will review the studies prepared by Yemeni government agencies and Red Crescent Society assessing the damages and losses caused by the flood that swept many homes away in Hadramout.
Meanwhile, the RCA also sent emergency relief to the flood victims in Yemen and the convoys carrying 115 tons of aid have already reached there.
A meeting has approved to set up a committee to draft a convention on this and FNC members and officials will represent UAE in this committee, Al Ghurair added.
