Bahrain marks World Environment Day

Manama, June 13 (BNA): A ceremony was held yesterday at the City Centre marking the World Environment Day, being held this year under the theme "Seven Billion Dreams. One Planet. Consume with care". The Supreme Council for the Environment (SCE) and the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) co-organised the event in cooperation the Gulf Petrochemicals Industries Company (GPIC) and Bahrain’s national Carrier –Gulf Air. The event was attended by environment, energy and aviation representatives and experts and other civil society institutions, including the Education Ministry’s GLOBE programme, Al-Malkiya Scouts, Bahrain Environment Society. In a statement to Bahrain News Agency (BNA), UNEP Regional Director and Representative for West Asia Dr. Iyad Abumoghli urged the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) and the whole Arab World to elaborate viable energy conservation policies.
