Equal opportunities stressed

Manama, June 13 (BNA): Integrating Bahraini women and promoting equal opportunities were the subject of a recent forum. The Supreme Council for Women (SCW) oganised the symposium in cooperation with Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI). BCCI Chairman Khlalid Abdulrahman Almoayyed attended the forum along with SCW Assistant Secretary General Dhawiya Al-Alawi. BCCI board member Shaikha Hind bint Salman Al-Khalifa opened the forum stressing the importance SCW-BCCI cooperation to consolidate Bahrain women’s presence and economic contribution. Al-Alawi stressed the SCW-led efforts to promote women’s economic standing, pointing out that the 2015 Bahrain Women’s Day would celebrate women working in the financial and banking sectors. National Strategy for Women’s Empowerment director, Policies and Development acting director-general Dr. Dunya Ahmed staged a presentation focusing on the 2013-2022 road-map to enhance the standing of Bahraini women. She pointed out key indicators that reflect women’s growing economic status, citing particularly the tangible increase in the number of women holding commercial registers and sitting on government and private boards.
