BNA takes part in key meeting

Tunis, June 13 (BNA): Representing the Federation of Arab News Agencies (FANA), Bahrain News Agency (BNA) Acting Director General Mohannad Suleiman Al Nuaimi took part in the 11th Arab Conference of the media security bodies presidents which concluded with the issuance of important recommendations to boost Arab cooperation. The conference was held at the Secretariat General headquarters in Tunis with the participation of delegations representing the media security bodies in the Arab countries, the Arab League, Naif Arab University for Security Sciences (NAUSS), Arab States Broadcasting Union, FANA, Arab Producers Union and non-government organisations. The conference called for coordination with relevant media parties at the Arab League to prevent using terms by Arab mass media glorifying terrorism or depicting it in a way different to its reality. The member states were also urged to pay special attention to the role of social networks in spreading rumours and fallacies. The conference hailed the joint Arab media strategy to confront terrorism which was issued by the Arab Information Ministers Council and the launch of Prince Naif Award for Arab Security. The 4th meeting of the joint committee of the media security bodies and Arab mass media convened after the conference and came up with many recommendations including a call to uphold the positive image of the security officers and highlight their sacrifices for the sake of national and citizens' security. A call was also made to renounce the rhetoric inciting extremism, sectarianism, violence and hatred.
