Bahrain University hosts Isa Award laureate

Manama, May.7 (BNA): The University of Bahrain (UoB) hosted Isa Award for Service to Humanity laureate Prof. Achyuta Samanta last Thursday. UoB President Dr. Ibrahim Mohammed Janahi welcomed Prof. Samanta who was awarded the second edition (2013-2015) in a ceremony held last Wednesday under the patronage of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa. Dr. Janahi expressed the university's pride at hosting Prof. Samanta, from Odisha, India, to outline his achievements, particularly the establishment of Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences. He hailed his crucial role in creating learning opportunities for poor people and changing the lives of millions of people in India through education. He commended the strenuous and dedicated efforts of Prof. Samanta to promote education and serve humanity and presented him with a commemorative memento. Prof. Samanta expressed his pride and delight at visiting the University of Bahrain and thanked Dr. Janahi, hailing Bahrain's academic and educational strides. The University of Bahrain hosted the winner of the first edition of the Isa Award for Service to Humanity President of "MERCY Malaysia" Foundation Dr. Jameela Mahmood in April 2013.
