HRH Premier: Joint Arab action necessary to address challenges

Manama, June 4 (BNA): His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa has affirmed that meetings of Arab leaders, prime ministers and speakers have become necessary to address the serious challenges and the critical situation the region is going through, and reinforce regional security and stability. "No one but Arabs themselves can serve Arab interests, and no one but the Arab people can preserve security and stability in Arab countries," he said as he received at his Palace in Riffa the Speaker of the Arab Parliament Ahmed bin Mohammed Al-Jarwan. HRH Premier asserted that Saudi Arabia is leading an Arab awakening that has restored Arabs' leading role, and imposed a new reality that foreign interference into the region is no longer allowed, a reality that has been absorbed by all, he explained. "Because the situation required firmness and reinforcement of security and stability, and the prevention of foreign interference required decisiveness, the 'Coalition of Good" was launched to put things into perspective," he said. "Unity always brings good, and whenever we are united, it becomes difficult for enemies to divide us and fragment us," he said, noting that countries of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) had become aware of that a long time ago , and therefore established the GCC bloc. HRH Premier pointed out that Arabs should preserve their interests by stepping up cooperation among them, adopting unified stances and overcoming differences among them amid the current challenges facing them. He stressed that Arab conflicts should always be resolved within an Arab framework so that no loophole is left for foreign interference into Arab affairs, explaining that such foreign meddling aims to distract Arabs from focusing on their top national and religious priorities. He stressed that the GCC entity is the fruitful outcome of the efforts of GCC leaders, calling on GCC countries to protect and develop their entity. HRH the Prime Minister lauded the stances of the Arab Parliament's Speaker and members in support of just Arab rights, calling for the need to step up joint Arab parliamentary action in light of the on-going regional and global developments. He praised the effective role played by the Arab Parliament in coordinating stances vis-à-vis Arab issues at international parliamentary gatherings. Arab Parliament Speaker said that HRH Premier's visions of joint Arab cooperation is a roadmap for enhancing joint Arab action, lauding the Premier's wisdom and statesmanship. Al-Jarwan highlighted the Arab Parliament's keenness to support solidarity and unity among Arab countries.
