FNC calls for creating body for Gulf female media personnel
Muscat, Dec 22, 2008 (WAM) - Member of the UAE Federal National Council Najla Al Awadhi yesterday called for creating a committee for female Gulf media personnel in order to further boost their role in the industry.
Al Awashi also called for launching media reform initiatives to ensure more professional training and development opportunities for Gulf female media personnel.
Al Awadhi's call came at a paper presented to the 3rd regional conference of women parliamentarians and women in political decision-making positions in GCC countries which was opened today in Muscat, Oman.
Al Awadhi who is leading the FNC delegation to the said meeting also discussed the social and cultural barriers and challenges facing women in the Gulf media and the competition with expatriate media personnel.
