PM affirms concern of government to improve tourist sector

SANA'A, Dec. 21 (Saba)- Prime Minister Ali Mujawar affirmed on
Sunday concern of the government to improve level of the tourist
sector in the country within its plan of reforms and combating
corruption as well as enhancing decentralization.

In his speech at the consultative meeting for tourism, Mujawar said that the meeting
confirms concern of all to pass all obstacles facing tourism, saying
that the 2009 year is beginning of the second phase of structural
tourist reform.

He pointed out to the concern of the government for
this key sector by offering suitable structure and laws for the
sector in 2008.Mujawar hoped that the parliament will finalize
discussion of the new law of tourism and approve it soon.

He urged specialists to study impacts of the current international and local
development like financial crisis and kidnapping phenomenon on the
tourism to find out solutions for these problems.

The prime minister said that the plan of tourism development includes 49 projects
and a
set of decisions such as establishing emergency tourist unit and
strategy of the tourist information.He said that the process of
developing this main sector based on gathering efforts of all
government corporations and civil society organization, political
parties and private sector.

Minister of Tourism Nabil al-Faqih called for applying laws, especially law
associated with kidnapping and
going ahead with implementing ban on weapon shouldering and
possession.Improvement of the security situation would enhance
directives of the president Ali Abdullah Saleh to support tourism,
al-Faqih said.

The consultative meeting was held under slogan "2009
is beginning for developing tourist performance."Around 129
participants from different tourist institutions are taking part in
the meeting.
