Syrian minister highlights Iran's major regional presence
Damascus, Dec 21, IRNA
Syrian Minister of Culture Riyad Nasan Agha said Saturday night that
the Islamic Republic of Iran has charismatic presence in the region.
Agha made the remarks at the opening ceremony of Iran's Cultural Week
in Damascus in presence of Iran's Minister of Culture and the Islamic
Guidance Mohammad-Hossein Saffar-Harandi.
He said that the mutual ties between Iran and Syria "what we honor
dates back to emergence of Islam in the seventh century." He called
the cultural week as opportunity for further getting familiar with
characteristics of the two nations.
Referring to the Islamic resistance movement of Lebanon, the Syrian
minister said that the two countries of Iran and Syria back the
resistance movement aiming to end Israeli occupation of Lebanon.
The Iranian Culture and the Islamic Guidance minister heading a
delegation arrived in Damascus, Syria, Friday evening to attend
inauguration of the Iranian Cultural Week.
