UAE-Qatari relations are a model worth emulating: Qatari envoy
Abu Dhabi, Dec 21, 2008 (WAM) - The UAE and Qatar have enjoyed historical and vibrant relations that are worth emulating in as far as inter-Arab relations are concerned, said Abdullah Mohammed Al Othman, Qatari Ambassador to the UAE.
In a statement to WAM on his country's National Day, the Qatari envoy lauded UAE-Qatari ties, adding that these relations have gained greater vibrancy during the leadership of President HH Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan in the UAE and HH Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani in Qatar. The close sisterly relations, he said, have reached mutually satisfactory levels in the fields of economics, politics, culture and media.
On his country's achievements in recent years, Ambassador Al Othman said Qatar had seen qualitative transformation towards modernity in recent years, thanks to the visionary leadership of HH Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa.
"Today, Qatar is a leader in various fields of socio-economic development. The march towards modernity is virtually visible in all fields of human endeavours. Suffice it to say that modern day Qatar is a top global tourism destination", the ambassador said.
By walking the path of development and modernization, Sheikh Hamad has amply exhibited his loyalty to the values of the founding father of modern Qatar, the late Sheikh Jassem bin Mohammed bin Thani, the ambassador said.
